Then I had this guy that always comes in. He annoys me because he just looks at everything then buys a random thing. Plus he can not remember my name. Every time he calls me my co-worker. I have to say my name every single time. Anyway so the radio talks about how Moss is now on the Vikings. Which got us started on Farve. And I will say there are few things that get under my skin (shut up), but one of those things is Farve. So we talk about that and he was defending Farve. Not many Packers fans do that. Basically he said oh Farve can do that because he's a star. Seriously? He can whine and bitch and moan to get whatever he wants because he's a "star". So you are ok with children seeing this "star" whining and moaning to get what he wants. The more I pushed the more all he could really say is well he got close to the Superbowl a lot. That means he can do what he wants. That is the crappiest logic I've ever heard. He can get as close as he wants. Unless he gets teams tot he Superbowl every year and wins every year he is no better then any other quarterback that gets close to the Superbowl. I don't see him doing everything on the field so, no he can't get away with that. Just urks me.

Long senior day
Yep it was a long one. Not really, but just had a lot of people that came in and some where pains in my side. The first was this woman that seemed to think that we would add a discount on top of a discount. How many stores will honestly give you a discount on top of a discount. Especially since most coupons or discounts say no other offers, discounts, or coupons apply. Or that you can only use one per visit. Anyway so seniors get 15% off. So I was giving her her discount. Then she pulls out this card form the local high school that's a discount card. So she's like yes and I have this card that gives me 10% off. I said well you are already getting 15% off. I can't add a discount on top of a discount. She said but I paid for this. I said I understand that, but today your getting 15% off. So this is worthless. No it's not worthless. You get 15% off today, but any other day you come in you can use that card and get 10% off. I don't think that's fair but ok. What is not fair about that? You get a better discount today and tomorrow you can get 10% off. Plus we aren't the only business on that card. Plus if she had read the card she would have saw no other offers, discounts, or coupons apply. The other day a woman came in with that card. We have products that have been lowered so low that if we offered a discount we would barely break even. We have all those items starred and have signs that say we don't give discounts on those. On top of that she gets a 17% discount. 17 beats 10 duh. Arg.
Episode 21 of Sailor Moon abridged. Yeah that's how far I got after starting the series on Tuesday. They are that short and I'm that slow in finishing them because I tend to watch them at work. Enjoy. Today's tip is when it comes to money and discounts people tend to be irrational. Nothing to add to that, just stating an observation.

Well duh
I was watching the Today show and there were two segments that got my attention. The first was about how whenever you send you gold in for cash to all these sites and companies that say they will give you cash for it, you'll sometimes get ripped off. Some companies were fair with there prices. Others not so much. They had a professional gold appraiser give them packets of gold all costing about $450 each. some companies were close to that. Others were half of that. One was 8% of that. Yeah 8%. Now the reason why I hate those companies is because just as I figured they make these big promises that they can't keep. Oh you'll get 10% more then the next company blah blah blah. They tend to lose your gold in the mail. It's too easy to get scammed. They did an investigation on these companies earlier this year and found out that most of the time you couldn't get your gold back or they would process your gold through and you have to take their payment. This is why you go to a local jeweler. You ask them for a price. Shop around and go with the highest bidder. That way your gold doesn't leave your sight and your helping the local economy. Nope people have to do it because they saw it on tv.
The other story was about parents treating their obese children differently. I couldn't stick around for the segment so I don't know if they said they treat them better or worse. I will say that it is an obvious yes for two reasons. 1. No two children are ever treated the same. How we get treated by are parents is based on were we are in the line up (oldest, middle, youngest), our age, our gender, and our personalities. You obviously can't expect your 12 year old to act the same way as a 17 year old. The expectations are different. You can't treat a boy like a girl or vice versa. The 2nd reason is that our society has changed it's outlook on obesity. 10 years ago a parent of an obese child wouldn't get the same scrutiny they do now. Think about the last time you saw an obese child with their parent. I'm sure you thought (even for a second) that wow the parents can't help with that? I know that goes through my head. Plus obese kids tend to have a lot more problems. They have more health problems, tend to have low self-esteem, and/or don't socialize well. So of course these kids are going to be treated differently. I could have saved those scientist that did the study tons of money by telling them that.
I think we have to look at our society for the answer as well. There is some shame that is brought upon a parent if their child is overweight. They get those stares. I'm sure if they could read minds people are thinking oh that parent is endangering that child. The thing is that being overweight as a child is sometimes not permanent. There are people I know that were chunky in elementary school then as high schoolers they thinned out. When your taller weight distributes better. It's why it's hard to find a tall fat person. Not impossible, but hard. Well if you don't work right next to a fast food joint. Anyway we all seem to have it in our minds that it's easy to loose weight now. With all the infomercials about exercise machines, diet plans, and new video games out that are interactive. Well the thing is that it's not easy to lose weight. If it was everyone would be skinny. There are many factors that go into it. Yes sitting around a lot and eating junk food is one of the key things to change, but there is also genetics. Ever seen a family of large people. Well it's probably because they are endomorphs meaning they pack on pounds easier then other people. The other factor is they have to make the change for them. I've seen tons of people come in here and just want a pill that will make them skinny. The pill will only speed up your metabolism. It won't make you skinny. If you watch those Hydroxycut commercials you'd see that they have in fine print with diet and exercise. Our society has gotten so lazy. Everyone just wants a quick fix. Well there isn't one for losing weight. And if you aren't in it for the long haul you won't ever see the results you want.
The other thing is kids don't ever want to admit there is a problem and same with the adults. I've only seen one overweight teen come in since I've been here. His mom did all the talking and got my boss to do a consultation for her son. On the day of the consultation my boss said that a large man dropped the kid off. He couldn't get his weight because the scale only goes up to 300. There was so much body fat he fat gun was not able to go high enough. During the consultation the guy didn't say much. He came in once since then to get stuff. I'm sure the mom said I tried and gave up. She just wanted to be able to say I took him to someone. He wasn't to interested in losing weight either. It's things like that, that make it hard for kids to lose the weight. They just resign themselves to being fat if most of their family is. They are resigned to being obese. Until his attitude changes I can't see him living longer then his 25th birthday. It was like something one of my friends told me. He had a 16 year old working for him at Wendy's that was so fat they had to order him a 2XL. He couldn't be at the grill because he blocked people from going through. He had to be moved off the grill because he was sweating so bad it was falling on the food. Fast forward a few years he sees him again and he's walking with a cane. He weighed more then he did at 16. He was on disability because he was so large. That is what happens when you resign yourself to being big. I've seen guys that were on that road that turned it around. All because of attitude change.

I found another abridged series. Yeah it's a good one and I can't wait to get caught up on it. It's Sailor Moon Abridged. Yeah how can you not love that. It's also ironic that I would post it after the rant I just had. Watch it and you'll see what I mean. Oh and quick side note just like the 1st episode of any abridged series the sound is a little off. Meaning some characters sound louder then others. Today's tip is we are all different. That means people will treat us different (better or worse). Taking it personally will just weigh on your nerves.

One more day
One more day until Senior day meaning I'll have to hear the usual is it senior day and did you give me my discount. Ugh always annoying. There are those that are a joy to wait on. They make jokes and always have a good upbeat mood. Those are the type that don't ask if I gave them a discount. The ones that do are those that are either grouchy or that are so forgetful that they've tried my patience and I'm just fizzled out. Oh joy.
Tattoo update time. It's currently still itchy and in the stages of peeling. That means by the end of this week it should be done peeling and itching. Yay.
Last night my roommate was watching Keith Olberman and the final story was about a guy in rural Kentucky that had his house burn down. That of course isn't what made it news worthy. What made it news worthy was that the fire department came to the house and watched it burn. But wait. There's more. Turns out that every house in that town is suppose to pay $75 for fire protection. This guy got his notice, but says he forgot to pay it. When he called up 911 the operator said you didn't pay your fire protection and he pleaded that he'd pay anything just get him some help. Now this is your catch 22 type story. Yeah you want to side with the guy, but at the same time all he had to do was pay $75 once a year to make sure that it didn't happen. The town doesn't have a fire department of their own so they have to borrow one. I listened to the end of his interview and he says I know people don't think you forget to pay for this stuff, but I did. What more is that the fire was the guys fault. He was burning trash and one of his corn stalk caught fire and well now he doesn't have a house. Plus this fee wasn't something that just happened over night. It was around for 15 years. Apparently the old fire chief use to send a truck and make people pay afterwards. As the guy said he would "bend the rules". Well there you go. Probably one reason why he's not in his job anymore. I don't know who to side with in this story. I want to side with the guy, but at the same time he brought it upon himself. I want to blame the fire department, but they were just following the rules and weren't going to bend the rules for anyone. Like I said it just bugs me not siding with someone.

Today's tip is paying for protection against accidents is a smart idea. The reason they are called accidents is because no one can predict them.

Back to the old grind
Well first up is a tattoo update. IT ITCHES AND IT'S DRIVING ME INSANE! That is all.
So I've obviously had enough of these political ads for elections. The main reason is because everyone is blaming everyone else. In their haste to blame others they do this double talk. I've seen ads that keep going on about how Washington created the deficit and job loss. yeah that's true. Then they'll go on and say the stimulus didn't work. Ok it did work. It made sure the recession was not much worse. Economist said that not politicians. Then they will say under me we will create jobs. Ok wait you said the stimulus didn't work. How can you (a government official) create jobs if the biggest bit of government couldn't? See what I mean by this double talk. Or this big push. Saying that under this person thousands of jobs were lost. Well under a lot of people jobs were lost. That's what happens when your in a RECESSION! This recent one I saw said that the incumbent is trying to save his seat. Well duh! Of course he is. Every incumbent is. If a President has only served one term they typically try to go in for a 2nd one to "save their job". What kind of attack ad is that? That is one reason why I hate election season. Everyone gets swept up in blaming everyone else and trying to look good for the public that they will lie tot he public. They will say government doesn't create jobs, but if you elect me I'll create jobs. If you elect me I'll cut wasteful spending. Well what is your definition of wasteful spending? Education? Unemployment? State run health care? Readers look at your candidates. Don't just blindly vote because of party. Vote based on who makes the most sense. Vote for the person that's honest with you. Vote for the person that truly seems like they have a plan and will work for you.
I'm sure we all know the story of the freshman at Rutgers. I have avoided this topic because well everyone has had an opinion and I didn't want to jump into this, but I saw something that pissed me off. The roommate said it was a prank. How the hell is streaming live video of someone having sex all over the internet a "prank". A prank would be to say oh btw I recorded you with this webcam. Just kidding it wasn't on. That's a prank. Not a good one, but it is one. That wasn't a prank. You were out to ruin him. then people that knew the guy said oh he's not homophobic he has gay friends. THAT'S NOT A DEFENSE! That's the whole I'm not racist because I have black friends defense. Granted usually the "defense" is saying that you have a family member who's gay. Well let me point out why that's not a defense. You can't choose family members. On top of that we don't know how you treat them. For all we know you avoid them like the plague. Then saying you have gay friends just means you were looking for friends who were gay, not friends who just happen to be gay. That logic pisses me off. You did a horrible thing so just admit it. You had no business invading your roommates privacy like that and spreading it with the world. Straight or gay that's not right. The thing that really pisses me off is I have a friend who goes to Rutgers and that university has been through so much crap. I hope he's ok I really do.

I don't know how many of you ever heard of the show Code Lyoko. If you haven't I suggest watching it. I use to watch it but it kept coming on at weird times and never got to really finish it. So this is the opening for the final season. Well I assume it's the final season. Anyway it's something interesting to watch if you have some free time. Today's tip is a little bit of logic goes a long way however a lot of stupidity likes to cover up logic.

Sunday Funday
Not really just ran out of titles. Anyway I had a good birthday dinner. Went to Burrachos which is like Chipotle. Made me feel like I was home. Oh did that taste amazing. So glad I went there. Especially after the day I had. It was just a very boring day.
In other news apparently the Hilstrand brothers and Sig Hansen won't be in the next season of Deadliest Catch. I can't say I'm shocked. Discovery really shot itself in the foot. The company sued the Hilstrand brothers because they didn't do interviews for a spin off series called Hilstranded. Well I figured that meant that those two wouldn't be back unless discovery woke up and made nice. I will say I was shocked that Sig wasn't coming back, but I guess I shouldn't be shocked. I mean they are closely nit group. Thanks to that I'm pretty sure this season of Deadliest Catch will be the last one. Let's think about this. Putting the captains in a line up from fan favorite to least favorite it would go like this. Phil Harris, the Hilstrands, Sig Hansen, then Keith. Will Phil passing last season and the other two captains leaving you just have Keith of the Wizard. I think a few people will watch to see how Phil's sons do, but that won't last forever. Unless a lot of drama happens not a lot of people will watch. Well Discovery was that 3 million dollar lawsuit worth it? Because I'm sure your going to lose way more then that because of your greed.

DBZ abridged. New episode. I have two things to say about it. I need an adult, and I thought I got pissed off majorly. So enjoy. Today's tip is you're only as weird as your friends. Proving that being "normal" is overrated.

New day. New Laptop
That's right today I'm blogging from my brand spanking new laptop. I must say I had one of the best birthdays in a long time. It might be because I got to do what I wanted and didn't have to go to school. It could be because a ton more people told me happy birthday. It could be that I'm truly better off emotionally then I was a few years ago. Whatever it is I'm glad it happened.
So went to Best Buy to get my laptop and I'm not going to lie. I got a little freaked out when I couldn't find the laptop I was looking for. Well after searching for a bit I found it. Now it wasn't blue, but of course I could think of worse things. I get it home and I just played with it. Still in the process of transferring all my crap over. I have a lot of crap. The music I'm not so worried about because my mp3 player has them all. This is just making sure I have pictures, programs, etc. Oh and when I got back from Best Buy I found a penny heads up.
Then came time for my tattoo. I think the rule of them is the crazier your tattoo artist the better your tattoo. Maybe that's just what I observed. Oh and this is also for an artist that has a crazy appearance. This guy went on and on about Aliens. Now this wouldn't have been too terrible if I hadn't brought it upon myself. I didn't just get out of it when I had the chance. Plus I guess I was giving off this signal of yes please tell me all about Aliens. Anyway the tattoo came out great though. I swear this one hurt more then my first one, but it's smaller and it already looks better then my other one at this stage in the game. Then again my first one I got later in the day. Anyway it's looking better and hopefully won't take nearly as long to heal.
The funny thing about yesterday is it started off with the worst cramp of my life. It was a calf cramp. If you've ever had one of those you know what I'm talking about. It woke me up at about 3:30 and I could not get comfortable. Finally the pain went down enough I could use the bathroom. When I woke up to go tot he gym it was better, but not the best. Anyway I get to the gym and the bike I like to use to warm up was taken. So I used the treadmill figuring that would help stretch out the cramp and it did. So I was in the gym with a somewhat cramped right calf. Doing a leg workout mind you. Well I got through it. Now my ass is sore and so is my right calf. Probably pushed it more then normal because it was cramping up. Oh well.

Well when I was finding the song Beauty and the Beast I saw one of my (if not my) favorite song from that movie. I honestly think it was one of the better movies Disney did. Anyway the song is Belle. Is so funny Belle is singing about how life is so boring and predictable while everyone else is talking about how odd she is. Makes you think doesn't it. Anyway today's tip is even a day that doesn't start out great can lead to one of your best days ever.
Today's my b-day
So far it's going great. I got my first happy b-day this morning at 12:22 am. I'm up to 10 different well wishes plus my mom calling me. Yeah it's going pretty good. This morning when I went to the gym it was pretty quiet. Not a lot of people at the gym. It wasn't in a mess. My workout buddy told one of the girls that always works out in the morning and she comes back to tell me happy b-day. Then as I was doing my calf raises I hear the radio saying birthday. Then I hear drink like it's your birthday. So I of course I am like what the hell. I tell my workout buddy to listen to the radio and the song finishes with the word Birthday. We both just laughed.
I've been saying thanks to a lot of people this morning. Got a b-day card from my roommate that was funny. So I got a lot to do. Going to get my laptop and a tattoo later on today. This is going to be fun.

Today's tip is there are at least a gazillion worse things then having friends and family that care about you.
